| Description | Submit photos for the MITOC Winter School Photo Contest here. There will be four categories:
1) Landscapes 2) People/Portraits 3) Action Shots 4) Goofy/Unexpected/Unusual Photos Submit your best photo for each category into the corresponding subalbum. Limited to one photo submission per person in each category. MITOC board members, leaders, and their associates, spouses, and family members are ineligible. For each photo, add a caption with a couple sentences describing the location and circumstances of the photo, any people in the photo, as well as what it is you think makes it a good photo. Also include your name! Submission deadline is 2 PM on 1/29. PRIZES will be awarded during lecture on 1/29 for the best photo in each category. This week's prizes are supplied by Joe Jones' Wilderness House on Comm Ave: each category winner will win a Nalgene bottle, and there will be a drawing among these four winners for a $75 gift card to Wilderness House! Photos will be judged by a group of MITOC leaders in a merit-based but unscientific fashion, based on a combination of aesthetic and technical qualities. Composition, lighting, narrative power, proper exposure and focus, and general uniqueness will factor in. Learning a thing or two about Photoshop or GIMP will likely give you an edge. |
