| Description | We were originally slated for Old Speck in Maine, but diverted to Ethan Pond in Crawford Notch. We got a slightly late start and arrived after the Gilbertson's trip. It was getting dark and the temperature rapidly dropped below 0, so we frantically built some snow shelters and made pasta. I am extremely impressed by how warm and cozy it got inside the snow caves! We all slept in the next morning, then descended via a steep trail that allowed for some glissading. The trip finished off with a 1.5 mile snowshoe walk along the railroad tracks. Fun times!
