Our Dad's last summit attempt at Mt Washington 28 years earlier was thwarted by dense fog and rain. We sought to avenge his 3 decade-old defeat by hiking to the summit this past Saturday.

We hiked up through Tuckerman's Ravine in the afternoon. Our brother Jacob took a refreshing dip in the waterfall on the way up. He was so warm he hiked in shorts and without a shirt the rest of the way up.

"What are those goosebumps on your arm Jacob?" we asked.
"What goosebumps?" said Jacob, "those are Tough Bumps."

With clear skies, temps in the mid 40's, and low winds we all cruised to the summit in style around 5:00pm. Victory! This was Jacob's and our Dad's first time on the top! For me and Eric it was #16 and #18 respectively. Jacob finally put on a bright jacket--just for the pictures of course. We headed back down Lion's Head and reached the car by 10:30pm.

Next day we 'cooled off' in the Pemi River near The Basin, in Franconia Notch. Whew, the water felt like it was about 45 degrees. But it was still a little too warm for Jacob's liking. Our Dad dunked his head in too.
