We went up Boot Spur to the summit of Washington and back down Tuckerman Ravine. There was snow on the ground all the way from Pinkham to the summit and it truly looked like winter above treeline with snow covering all the rocks and drifts up to my waist in some places. The wind was thankfully light and the skies sunny all day. The ice in Tuckerman's looked almost ready for some climbing - maybe after a few more cold days. We even saw some ski tracks on the sherburn near Hermit Lake shelters. The rangers must have been having some early-season fun in the snow.
