This was a beautiful hike with great views and a fun group. First we crossed the frozen Echo Lake and then hiked up to Cathedral Ledge for some nice views. Then we backtracked down and took the White Horse Ledge to the summit. It was a bit windy on the overlook so we had lunch in the trees but not without a great view of Mt. Washington. We had lots of fun melting snow for spiced apple cider and hot chocolate. Participants got to practice crampon use, side stepping, "glissading" and ice axe use. Total distance covered was just about 5.5mi. We also did some orienteering and leaders demonstrated self- arrest techniques. The day ended at the Moat brewery with some good beer and great company.
