DescriptionOn Sun Mar 20, Eric Gilbertson and I climbed Dog Leg Slide on the North Side of Mt. Osceola, off the Kancamagus Highway just east of North Woodstock and Loon Mt. Ski Resort in NH. Most of the trip is exactly as he describes in his intro in the parent album above this one. As far as WI climbing ratings go, I would rate the first bulge, which we did unroped, as WI 1+, mainly because it was so short (~10 vertical ft). The 2nd bulge, which Eric lead, was the most interesting climbing, and was 30-40 vertical ft of maybe WI 2+. The remainder of the climbing was WI 1+ mixed snow and ice, maybe like 5 additional 60 m pitches or so, with 2 or 3 screw placements per pitch (it was mostly snow). The descent out via the Greeley Ponds trail took about 2.5 hours including a 15 min walk along the road back to the East Pond trailhead where we had parked and included a couple of steep sections where we probably should have left our crampons on. The less steep sections included ample glissade opportunities. Entire trip length was around 10.5 hours. The pics in this sub-album are low resolution 2 MP shots from my cell phone.
