Description | 5 mountains
14 miles We started the day climbing the steep slide of North Tripyramid, which was luckily snow-free and fun scrambling. After traversing over to South Tripyramid we headed out on a side trail to the sleepers. The snow started getting deeper here and snowshoes would have helped a lot (though we didn't have them). Between west and east sleeper we stumbled upon what must be the secret moose restroom mecca for the entire white mountains. I've never seen so many moose droppings in one spot! The trail was completely covered for several hundred feet, culminating in a 10" deep pile in the middle!(see the pics). We carefully tiptoed around and soon reached our last mountain of the day - East Sleeper. The way out was much easier with a broken trail, and we made it back to the car just before the rain started. -Eric |
