We left Pinkham at 8am fully prepared for the climb: two racks, two ropes, and a sled. The sled was for the descent down Tuckermans, of course, assuming there was snow there. We passed by two other climbing parties on the way up, and luckily they were doing Pinnacle Buttress so we didn’t have to worry about any traffic jam on our route. We bushwacked over from the Huntington ravine trail and got to the base of the climb around 10am. I led the first pitch with Pat following, then Anna led with Aaron following. We had a pretty efficient system where Anna would clip into the anchor I built to save time. Pat and I alternated pitches, with the coolest part being the diving board, a 20ft plank of rock sticking out over north gully on pitch four. We all made it to the top of the technical portion by about 1:30pm, and then scrambled up the rest of the way to the alpine garden. There was just enough time to go tag Washington before heading down (literally tagging the sign in this case, to avoid having to wait in line behind a million tourists posing for pictures).

Down in Tuckerman Ravine there was still a decent amount of snow and about 10 skiers and snowboarders having fun. Unfortunately it was too steep and runout to sled without an ice ax, but Pat and I got a few short glissade runs in. The snow might last a few more weeks if you want to check it out.
