We took the less-traveled, fun route up Osceola - the north slide. We parked at the East Pond trailhead and started hiking up toward east pond. About a quarter mile after crossing Pine Brook we started bushwacking through the woods until we intersected the drainage right below the slide. Then the real fun began. The scrambling was awesome, where we could each choose our own route up the slide on slabs, talus, or scree, always trying to avoid the wet and slippery sections. We made it to the top of the slide around 11am and then started searching for a few ice screws I had lost here last march. That was unsuccessful, so we continued from the top of the slide and bushwacked a short ways to the summit of Osceola. To complete the loop we hiked out (on official trails this time) over east osceola and back to the Greeley Ponds trailhead, then road-walked back to the car. It's a great way to avoid the crowds!
