“Alright, here’s what you booked. Train tickets, 3 people, Munich - Zagreb with EuroNight Train, departing 11:40 PM October 9th, arriving 8:53 AM October 10th! Is that correct?” the German railway employee said on the phone sounding business-like. “Yes, that’s correct!” I confirmed and wished I could have time traveled to Oct. 9th in that moment.
“Umm, just because I’m interested, have you ever done it yourself before?” I asked curiously. “Huh, …. ?!”, she seemed confused about a question like that. “I mean, taking and sleeping in a train and crossing countries during the ride”, I asked more precisely. “Ohhhhh my god, yes, I did! ….”, she started and got a little chattier. “And I can tell you one thing! It was a whole new adventure to me. Honestly, do not expect any comfort in one such train. At first sight, you may think it’s going to fall apart but I can assure you: that’s not going to happen. Those trains are incredibly old and having survived so much …! They’re literally indestructible!” She didn’t exactly sound as if she was wishing for another ride like that to happen any time in her life again and continued: “Also, once you’re lying in those foldable beds, you’ll fear to fall out with every moving/accelerating/braking of the train!” Shortly, I was asking myself whether she really was working FOR German Railways, but instead I answered: “No worries, I’m sure it’ll be perfect. None of us has ever taken the train overnight. We’re excited for that new experience!” – “Oh, you sound as if you guys might enjoy this! So, I hope you have a fun trip!” – “Thank you very much!”

Ha, and she was right … we did have a fun trip! Thanks to all you MITOC Croatia insider for your helpful advices:
