Osceola North Slide
WI 2/3
11 pitches of ice

We met at the East Pond TH at 6:30am on Saturday morning and started the approach to the Slide. This involved about a mile of trail walking and a mile of light bushwhacking. It took a few hours and imo, this part always sucks but once you reach the clearing and see what you are about to climb, I always get a rejuvenating burst of energy, which is cool.

We roped up and climbed as 2 groups of 3 and 1 group of 2. We climbed past the first couple of bulges and when we reached a snow field, practiced placing snow protection(pickets, flukes, T anchors, snow bollards, etc). We also practiced traveling with kiwi coils.

The slide almost reaches the top of Osceola. We summitted just as the sun was setting, ate some food and started the long descent back to the car. The only way out is to tag East Osceola, which thoroughly sucked, but we finally reached the cars at around 7:30pm.
