Description | MBTA bus #240 took Veronica, Fereshte, Xinchen, Ani, and Tess to the heart of the Blue Hills Reservation where Richard met them for a short shuttle to the day's trail head by Houghton's Pond. Winter had finally touched the landscape making for a really fine, sometimes icy, and nicely scenic loop over the roots of a glacially sculpted, extinct volcano system. We fired up the stoves to have hot chocolate on Great Blue Hill summit at the historic Eliot Tower, constructed by the CCC. During the return, we paused to try our hands in quest of fire. Waiting for the bus home, we made a side excursion to Chicatawbut Hill where we saw fleeing white tailed deer and spotted the rare tracks of the locally legendary dwarf species of Yeti, known as Little Foot or the Yetele. |
