It's a tradition (at least as far as I can tell!) during the July Acadia trip to pick blueberries for Gunther and Dorthee's famous blueberry pancakes. Summer and I tried to pick on Saturday with friends from our morning kayaking trip, gathering half a liter while hiking from Beehive over the ridge to Champlain and down to 3, but we were socked in and it was raining hard most of the time, giving us slippery footing and no views at all (the berries, however, were still tasty). We went back with Guther and Dorthee and their friends Mattias, Maria, and Brad to Beehive, and were treated with much better views! All together, we probably picked a liter and half on the top of Beehive, just off trail on the ocean side. |
