DescriptionMITOC Mountaineering Committee Anchor Session

10.28.06

Noah McLean, Andy Stachyra, Dan Walker

Despite some fantastic weather (50F and pouring rain), three brave souls headed out to Hammond Pond to practice building anchors. We started by talking about different types of removable anchors, and some general considerations. Then we did our best to stuff every crack we could reach with all the pro we had. Next, we looked at each placement and discussed what looked good, what could be done better, and how to tell. Then we started combining the anchors into beefy belay and multidirectional anchors. Then we finished off the day with some wet aid climbing, dry tooling (well more like wet tooling) and good old fashioned free climbing.
