DescriptionSpecial thanks for a great day of climbing, organized by Chris Pipe. Participants were Laurel Ibey, Tyrone Yang, Alex Rikun, Rose Mellion, Sophie Johnson, Yuhua Hu, Patrick Lam, Rick Abbot, Sgouris Sgouridis, Derek Davies, Chris Scott and Chris Pipe. It was great to be able to squeeze in another outdoor climb before the cold weather set in for the year.

Thanks to Rick Abbot who arrived earlier to set up about 6 top ropes for slab-climbing on the C-wall. With sun exposure (which withstood some controversy about the movement of the sun) and more shelter, the C-wall was surprisingly warm for the autumn morning climbs. The slight forward incline of the wall made smaller holds much more useful. And having a nice view of the still pond next to the wall wasn't too bad either.

In the afternoon, we shifted over to the J and K walls for some higher top-roped climbs on some more sculptural walls. Fun and challenging even as more exposure and breeze made the climbs a little brisk. Among the highlights of the day, Chris Scott gave a terrific demonstration of two ways to climb the giant flake: using handjamb and layback.
