Conditions in the Flume the previous weekend had been good, so we were looking forward to plenty of ice after another cold week.
We weren't disappointed.

Anticipating that lots of other people would have similar ideas, we set out early and a couple of us went ahead to snag some good lines.
We were the first there and set up a rope on a short curtain at the bottom of the gorge and another on the waterfall at the top.
The waterfall provided a number of routes of varying length and steepness, which was great for beginners.
The curtain was short but steep, with some wicked hard ice at the top.
It was a good thing that we arrived early, as the gorge was soon full of climbers and became a noisy, chaotic zoo.

We soon added another line on the waterfall, and a much longer line in the main gorge.
This climbed a ramp to a long, steep wall, with a couple of steps at the top.

As the afternoon progressed, many of the other climbers in the gorge headed home and the resulting peace and quiet was very welcome.
There was plenty to keep everbody entertained and by the aftrenoon we began to run out of arm strength before daylight!

Finally, we moved a rope onto a free-hanging pillar, which Chrstiaan and Steve attacked with varied successs.
