Canada Ski Marathon 2007 Anne Lightbody & Amy Dickson The recruiting email went around Good times in Canada abound But fitness plans Were shortly canned Too many months with no snow on the ground With Tara along for the ride Saturday's start had teammates by our side Wax made us slow Getting past go But to catch the pack the two of us tried One found challenge not enough on the map So let her boot sole start to flap, A tad shaky going down But in the end we found It was not even much handicap The other had slick new skis That let her win downhills with ease Water sweetened with honey Kept her outlook sunny As we flew on, for team Snow Geese Saturday dinner was nice and hot Other than that don't remember a lot Faces had smiles But legs too many miles And sore muscles drove us to our cots Last check point closes at half past two Twenty minutes with 5K to do Sunday's moderate pace Set us up for a race And we were the last ones through Two girls a bit odd in the head Ski a marathon? Why not, they said 140 K In just two days Left them only ready for bed |
