Accomplishments:

Parking lot -- leveled dunes and cleared underbrush at the far end of the
parking lot. Recovered space for approximately three additional cars in
the lot, so crowding should no longer be a problem (if it ever was)

Insulation -- Bagged old worn insulation which remained from last fall's
trip when the insulation under the cabin was replaced. About 8 full bags
are currently stored under the deck to be removed at a later date.

Brush -- Tree blocking the drive was removed. Removed several blowdowns
around the cabin. Wood stacked near fire ring. Some of it still needs
sawed into fire sized pieces. (Note, chain saw is very dull. Recommend
having current chain sharpened, and purchase of spare chain as a back-up.)

Cleaning -- General spring cleaning of cabin. Organization of cabinets,
pantry, etc. Vacuumed loft. Washed windows.

Inventory -- Yurt inventory created. Hope to have electronic version
shortly.

Fire ring -- ashes removed from fire ring, such that it once again
resembles a 'ring', rather than a mound!

Lumber storage -- restacked lumber under the cabin so to prevent water
damange and ground rot.

Concerns:

The gas cook stove had an issue while we were there. While cooking
breakfast, both the broiler, griddle, and two stove-top burners were in
use. Apparently, this created enough heat that the control knobs melted
and momentarily became unresponsive. Turning them had no effect on
regulating gas flow to the burner. We took care of the problem by
shutting down the gas at the tank. After the stove had cooled, the
controls 'resolidified" such that they once again worked as expected.
However, the lettering (like HI, simmer, lite) on the three controls which
were in use at the time of the incident no longer correspond to the
current operating condition of the stove. In other words, one of the
controls is OFF when it appears to be in the LITE poistion, and the other
two appear similarly. The three controls in question are the Griddle,
Oven, and Right (front or rear, not sure). This does not pose a safety
hazard as long as people are careful to make sure that the knob is turned
until it clicks, rather than just to where it says off. Then, I would
recommend checking the burner with a match to verify that it is off.

Obviously, this is not an ideal condition for the stove. We will need to
think about a way to fix this. Possibilities include taking the knobs off
and realigning them, or using a heat gun to heat the knob such that we can
realign it. I've never seen this happen to a stove, and am open to
suggestions on what to do about it. In the meantime, I'll make sure to
notify keyholders of the condition. In addition, I tacked a note to the
board describing the problem and what to do about it, but people mightn ot
read that. I also plan to post the problem to the intervale-keyholder
list such that keyholders are aware of the problem.
