Trip Report:

A small group of us on the JP student's Winter Retreat decided to set out on a hike fairly early in the morning. We were on the road by 0730, heading toward Waterville Valley. The first part of the trail is on groomed trails for a very short distance (~.2mi). The trails had recently gotten a couple of inches of snow on top of the 4-5 in of snow from the previous weekend, and were slightly packed, perfect snowshoe conditions!

After a short steep section, we made our way up Noon Peak well before noon. We were rewarded with wonderful views. We continued along to Jennings Peak, ditched our packs and ran up the 0.2mi trail to the top, and once again had clear views. We also had the opportunity to check our maps and try to find the large Sandwich ahead of us.

Sandwich Dome was a little blustery on top, but we found a spot sheltered by trees on the summit to enjoy our lunch of sandwiches and some hot tea.

We took our time hiking back down and took (the slightly longer) Drakes Brook trail to enjoy some other scenery. A steep section provided us with some fun glissading. We made it back around 3pm and had plenty of time to enjoy some rich hot chocolate at Plain Jane's diner.
